Thank you for your interest in The National Jazz Museum in Harlem!  Our vibrant collections, programs and performances stimulate creativity and excitement about the past, present and future of jazz and its artists. Are you interested in becoming a museum educator? Historian? Production assistant? Teaching Artist? Social media guru? Volunteering is a wonderful first step to gain skills and experience that translate into the workplace and the career of your dreams, on your schedule. Volunteers at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem play a vital role in the daily operations of the museum.

As an Volunteer, you will receive guaranteed seating at all our live music events, lectures, and film screenings with behind the scenes access into the museum world. You will have the opportunity to facilitate meaningful experiences in the gallery space and during live performances by engaging with visitors, encourage donations, provide information on current exhibitions, sell merchandise, and support ongoing research projects. We are always seeking passionate volunteers to help us carry out our mission of preserving, promote and present jazz by inspiring knowledge, appreciation and the celebration of jazz locally, nationally and internationally.

  1. Please fill out our volunteer application online.
  2. Swing by the museum with your resumé and printed volunteer application detailing weekly availability. Our hours are Thursday – Monday, 11am-5pm. We’d love to meet you.

*We are especially looking for volunteers who are available Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as weekends.
