Bird — The Movie
Clint Eastwood’s 1988 Parker biopic created quite a controversy when it came out. Were its misrepresentations of Parker’s personality and talent worth the price to bring his music to a larger public? Shortly after it’s release, NJMH Senior Scholar Loren Schoenberg gathered a panel of musicians and historians (some of whom knew Parker) to discuss the film. Guests include: pianist Dick Katz, writer/historians Gary Giddins, Stanley Crouch, Dan Morgenstern, and Ira Gitler.
