“Friday Night in Harlem” at The Apollo Theater ft. Jonathan Batiste
The National Jazz Museum in Harlem is thrilled to announce that Artistic Director At-Large, Jonathan Batiste, will be receiving the Apollo Theater’s Louis Armstrong Legacy Award. Jonathan will receive the award and perform as part of the Apollo Theater’s “Friday Night in Harlem”, a Super Bowl celebration and mega-concert featuring four-time Grammy-Award Winner Ms. Regina Belle, and Grammy-Nominated Lalah Hathaway and Valerie Simpson, backed by contemporary jazz musicians Alex Bugnon, Victor Bailey, Lenny White. You can also enjoy the big band sound of the Manhattan School of Music Swing Jazz Orchestra, with special guest performances by Cecil Bridgewater and Arturo O’Farrill and the spiritual sounds of Harlem’s Mass Choir at First Corinthian Baptist Church and Grammy/Oscar nominated IMPACT Repertory Theatre in a special Gospel Tribute to Nelson Mandela.
