Hearing Harmony with Helen Sung and Ashlea Morgan

Hearing Harmony brings together jazz music and science as we celebrate the way that music affects our brains and bodies. Each month we explore a different topic with a guest scientist from Columbia University, combined with music from New York based and inaugural Zuckerman Institute Jazz Artist-in-Residence pianist Helen Sung. Join us to listen and move with the music, and maybe learn something new!

July’s guest scientist is the Zuckerman Institute’s Ashlea Morgan, PhD Candidate. Ashlea is an expert in the neuroscience of serotonin and how this chemical signal plays a role in our emotions.

Hearing Harmony is a collaboration between the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute.
