The Music of David Durrah

Pianist and composer David Durrah has been quietly making his mark on the jazz scene for over 50 years. He got his start in Cleveland, backing up touring blues musicians like Lightnin’ Hopkins and BB King and later became a fixture in the ‘70s jazz underground in both Detroit and LA. Along the way he’s performed with jazz legends Cab Calloway, Dizzy Gillespie, Archie Shepp, Willie Bobo, and Tito Puente. Now he cultivates a growing community of jazz artists in Harlem as the host of our monthly jam session. But for this special occasion, David presents a set of his own compositions.
