Steve Lacy Festival Concert
On Saturday, July 23, 2016, which is also Steve Lacy’s birthday, soprano saxophonist Sam Newsome will lead an all-star cast celebrating the life and music of the late soprano saxophone legend.
Lacy was known for his well-documented devotion to the music pianist Thelonious Monk. Lacy, however, was a pretty prolific composer in his own right, having added such gems as “Bone,” “Deadline,” and “Blues Aida” to the jazz lexicon.
The concert will feature:
Dave Liebman – Soprano Saxophone
Andrew Raffo Dewar – Soprano Saxophone
Sam Newsome – Soprano Saxophone
Mark Helias, bass
Andrew Cyrille, drums
Plus Special Guests
The event will begin at 7:00 PM.
Suggested donation is $10.00.
Please join us for the historic birthday celebration!
