Voza Rivers, Arts Advocate/Producer
Tireless arts advocate, producer, and overall Harlem arts legend Voza Rivers has pumped life and music into Harlem with his work in theatre, music, dance, visual arts, film, television and everything in between. We were excited to have him at the Museum for a discussion.
Presently, Rivers is Chairman/CEO VOZ Entertainment Group, Executive Producer/Founding Member of New Heritage Theatre Group, Co-Founder/Executive Producer of IMPACT Repertory Theatre, Executive Producer of Harlem Week and the Harlem Jazz & Music Festival, Co-Chairman of Community Works and Chairman of the Harlem Arts Alliance. As Executive Producer, Rivers produces all of the major events for Harlem Week, the Harlem Jazz & Music Festival and the National Black Sports & Entertainment Hall of Fame Annual Gala. In his prolific career so far Rivers has produced award winning works on Broadway, at The Schomburg Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Apollo theatre and worked with countless artists including Nina Simone, James Brown, Ray Charles, the Count Basie Orchestra, Tony Bennett, Max Roach, Celia Cruz and more.
